Job Details

The Catholic Community of South Baltimore is seeking candidates for a part-time Music Director to coordinate music ministry and cultivate parish musicians to lead church community in prayer at weekend liturgies as well as weddings and funerals. This is a 20 hours per week position.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Be a part of a leadership team committed to evangelizing in Baltimore City.
  • Lead parish community in prayer at weekend liturgies, weddings, funerals, and other worship opportunities.
  • Coordinate and help to grow a committed adult choir.
  • Create opportunities for children to participate in parish music ministry.
  • Introduce contemporary music and form ensembles that can integrate praise and worship music, Taize, and more traditional church music.
  • Accompany and minister to the many couples preparing for marriage, families grieving the loss of a loved one, parish volunteer musicians, and more.
  • Become a part of a growing community that extends the walls of the church buildings.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • Must be a practicing Catholic able to participate in the sacramental life of the parish
  • Must be proficient on organ/piano and able to lead choir and cantors
  • Previous experience in music ministry is preferred
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
