Job Description
The Associate, Event Planning and Operationsis a key member of the regional operations team. Their primary role is to directly deliver services for schools and students that can most effectively be performed at the regional level. The Associate, Event Planning and Operationswill also be responsible for management of regional team, school leader, and staff culture events and touchpoints. The position will report to the Newark Director of School Support, and will work closely with school and regional leaders in Newark, members of school support teams in other Uncommon regions, as well members of Uncommon's home office teams.

Responsibilities:
  • School Support: deliver services for schools and students that can most effectively be performed at the regional level, including:
    • Manage the operations support for region-wide or gradespan-wide summer professional development for teachers
    • Organize, and implement non-instructional professional development, meetings, and training for school leaders and school operations staff
    • Identify and manage the use of after school enrichment opportunities for students
    • Provide operational support for school leader meetings and retreats
    • Organize medical exams, screenings, and events to support students and staff
  • Manage regional team and region-wide culture initiatives including:
    • Plan and implement region-wide events for school staff
    • Organize and implement cultural touchpoints for the regional operations team
    • Organize cultural touchpoints for DOOs and school ops teams
    • Manage regional leader gifts for key points throughout the year (start of school, holidays, state tests, etc.)
  • Coordinate volunteers from Uncommon's home office during key points over the course of the year
  • Additional duties and projects as needed and assigned in support of Newark schools
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required;
  • At least three years of work experience;
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills;
  • Strong customer service approach and communication skills;
  • Passion for the mission of closing the achievement gap;
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Displays maturity, flexibility, comfort with ambiguity and a sense of humor;
  • A desire to work on an impactful team and take on additional projects, be creative, and propose new solutions;
  • High sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently; and
  • Quick and effective learner in a fast-paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment that proactively seeks feedback to improve
