Status - Full-time, Non-exempt

Position Summary: Under the direction of school-based administration, the School Hall Monitor assists in maintaining a safe school environment by monitoring student activity in halls, building interior, and exterior premises at the school.
Responsibilities:
1) Monitors students throughout the day: arrival, breakfast, lunch, transition times, fire drills, building evacuations, dismissal, enrichment periods, and independent study.
2) Establishes a positive working relationship with students and staff members and provides support to the Assistant Principals and other security personnel.
3) Advises and instructs students of/in school policies; observes students to ensure they are following all policies; assists in managing student disciplinary problems as related to student behavior.
4) Promotes attitudes of student responsibility and assists the professional staff with the safety of facility, while ensuring knowledge of and support for student and staff movements in and out of the school.
5) Participates in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend required meetings.
6) Responsible for the removal of disruptive students from the classroom.
7) Assists the professional staff, police, and emergency personnel in handling emergencies or
disruptive situations.
8) Immediately notifies appropriate personnel of evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or anabolic steroids.
9) Notifies the building administration, police, and/or appropriate emergency personnel of any
emergency, potentially dangerous, or unusual situations.
10) Move about the floors throughout periods to ensure students are in appropriate classes.
11) Performs other related or unrelated duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required to meet position and/or organizational goals and objectives as responsibilities, knowledge, skills and working conditions may change as needs evolve.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Therapeutic crisis intervention and de-escalation training preferred.
- Experience preferred.
