The Boston Public Schools (BPS) is seeking to fill the position of Academics and Professional Learning (APL) Project Manager . This mission of this office is to provide all educators & stakeholders high-quality research-based curricular materials and professional learning experiences that support them in all phases of their career to develop the knowledge, skills and mindsets that enable them to be highly effective, equity-focused educators and leaders who provide all students with the tools and experiences they need to be college and career ready . The position will be charged with providing project management support to programming run under APL.

About the Position
The Academics and Professional Learning Project Manager is expected to perform duties with a high degree of independence, initiative, and judgment. In addition to serving as support staff for the department, this position is responsible for the planning, development, management and implementation of the department's program-specific special projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manages and assists in the development of program-specific special projects such as Equitable Literacy, Civics Action Projects, and other projects aligned with department and district priorities
  • Works with the department head or assigned designee to determine basic departmental policies and operating procedures and coordinates implementation.
  • Assesses departmental priorities and objectives and makes action recommendations to the department head or assigned designee.
  • Manages the operating budget for program-specific special projects.
  • May prepare, negotiate and administer contracts and amendments.
  • Event & project preparation, planning & staffing as part of the Department team
  • Develop new systems for improvement of practice (meeting/training room calendar, department orientation manual, etc.)
  • Attend August Summer Learning Institute (August 16-27)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications - Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years experience managing high-stakes projects in NonProfit Management, Social Work or Education
  • Ability to work with parents, administrators, teachers, and other staff, and members of the community
  • Mastery of Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to be flexible and take an optimistic attitude to new challenges, a good sense of humor, and can-do approach.
  • Proactive, creative, and tenacious problem-solver with experience in organizing others to accomplish projects.
  • Highly collaborative team player who will bring maturity, initiative, creativity, energy, discipline, and commitment needed to support
  • Detailed oriented, effective organizational skills, and ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently individually and in a team oriented, fast paced environment both within the department and across departments

TERMS: Managerial, B21. City of Boston Residency is Required.
