Job Code: Police Officer - Temporary - 004007 Standard Hours: 10 Department: Temporary/Misc - 990000 Empl Class: NA   License and Certification Qualifications: Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification and a valid Georgia driver's license required.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience Qualifications: Must be an active member of law enforcement.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to manage, control, and direct the flow of traffic at school sites. Must be able to communicate courteously with the public through verbal commands as well as appropriate hand signals while providing traffic direction for vehicular and pedestrian movement.

Primary Responsibilities: Direct the flow of traffic at school sites to ensure that school buses are able to safely and efficiently load and unload students.

1. Deployment of equipment such as signs, cones, barricades, and other traffic control devices. 2. Assess the need for traffic direction and control.
3. Protect persons and property from harm by identifying the hazards and removing them.
4. Perform all law enforcement related duties in a highly professional manner consistent with established procedures and directives.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, sit, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
