  License and Certification Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Valid Georgia Educational Certificate in the area of language arts and literacy required.

Education Qualifications: Master's degree in related field required.

Experience Qualifications: Five years of experience in language arts and literacy instruction, with experience in project management required. Experience in grant writing or administration preferred.

Skills Qualifications: High degree of skills in developing and facilitating effective professional learning; high degree of skill in oral and written communication; high degree of skill in organization and problem-solving; ability to prepare comprehensive and detailed reports; knowledge of or ability to quickly learn best practices aligned to the science of reading; advanced project management skills including knowledge of appropriate methodology and project planning principles that will drive successful development, execution, and delivery of projects; ability to balance multiple responsibilities specific to the position while ensuring the needs of the organization at large are addressed; knowledge of management principles and budget systems; ability to use advanced spreadsheet, database, and presentations software; and demonstrated knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Primary Responsibilities: Coordinate the project management functions and processes for the Office of Language Arts and Literacy aligned to GCPS literacy initiatives that support the implementation of high-quality instructional practices aligned to the science of reading.

1. Support the coordination of project management functions and processes for the Office of Language Arts aligned to the district literacy initiatives .
a. Support the development and review of project schedules, efforts, and costs using established models and best practices.
b. Collect and monitor multiple data sources to inform the continuous improvement process.
c. Support the development and completion of short and long-range goals for the Office of Language Arts.

2. Develop and coordinate high-quality professional learning opportunities for teachers, leaders, and district staff aligned to the science of reading .
a. Ensure that professional learning opportunities are research-based, comprehensive, and offer implementation support .
b. Monitor the effectiveness of the professional learning from various data sources and utilize the data for continuous improvement .

3. Provide assistance and support pertaining to grant writing, grant documentation, and proposal initiatives.
a. Manage literacy grants and other funding sources that support the implementation of effective literacy practices .
b. Work within defined budgets.
c. Assist with maintaining departmental budget and spreadsheets.
d. Ensure implementation and documentation of approved activities aligned to grants or other funding sources .
e. Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required.

4. Support implementation of the MTSS framework.
a. Work collaboratively with different areas to support the MTSS process .

5. Communicate district priorities, goals, and objectives to various audiences .
a. Communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written forms.
b. Ensure alignment of communication with district literacy initiatives .

6. Model continuous learning to maintain knowledge of best practices in literacy.

7. Ensure world-class customer service is provided by the Office of Language Arts .
a. Anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs in a high-quality and courteous manner.
b. Assist stakeholders in resolving complex issues .

8. Complete tasks with high quality under defined deadlines .
a. Manage projects through strong organization, detailed plans, and balancing of multiple priorities.

9. Perform other duties as assigned .

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
