Director of Production Strategic Sourcing


We are looking for a Director of Production Strategic Sourcing to lead the Carnegie Learning Product Team's strategic sourcing initiatives, including the initiation, negotiation and monitoring of vendor contracts, relationships, and performance. This role leads the evaluation and development of procurement strategies for Carnegie's Product teams to maximize efficiency and minimize cost while delivering.

This position oversees critical vendor relationship management and contract management processes within the Product team to ensure terms and deliverables are met and sourcing budgets are monitored. Strategic sourcing responsibilities within the Product team include analyzing current vendor services and cost structures to develop short- and long-range plans to improve sourcing costs and vendor performance. The Director of Production Strategic Sourcing is a key stakeholder in mitigating risk if vendor performance concerns are escalated. This position also looks for opportunities to consolidate vendors and partner with colleagues to set purchasing standards to improve negotiations and reduce the total cost of development and ownership for Product teams.

  • Actively participate in the initial design and ongoing improvement of production strategic sourcing processes
  • Design and implement at rate card structure for preferred vendors to facilitate agile sourcing to meet product requirements
  • Provide a level of industry expertise and experience to support sourcing initiatives and lead high priority production strategic sourcing projects as needed
  • Coordinate production strategic sourcing projects and monitor project performance by regularly reporting results
  • Prioritize and lead the continuous improvement process for programs within production strategic sourcing
  • Partner with internal and external teams to establish workflow efficiencies, improve communication, and streamline processes
  • Evaluate opportunities to leverage technologies to reduce costs, schedule durations, and increase efficiencies
  • 10+ years of experience in sourcing and managing vendor relationships
  • Experience partnering with program management teams
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of strategic sourcing processes, organization, and technology
  • Has deep educational publishing and edtech strategic sourcing capability and supplier knowledge
