Director of Instructional Design, Supplemental Literacy

WHAT WE SEEK

Carnegie Learning is seeking a qualified individual to lead the development of innovative ELA curriculum and instructional design. The Director of Instructional Design, Supplemental Literacy, reports to the Senior Director of Instructional Design.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
  • Lead the instructional design and content strategy of engaging print and digital supplemental curriculum for the K-12 English Language Arts market
  • Serve as pedagogical expert for product lines within the K-12 ELA portfolio
  • Manage internal and external instructional designers to execute product delivery against roadmap expectations
  • Provide cross-functional leadership with regard to operational and delivery best practices
  • Cultivate and manage author, partner, and third-party relationships
  • Ensure the execution of product lifecycle best practices
  • Cultivate and maintain deep knowledge of the ELA market including customer values and needs
  • Work strategically with the Director of Instructional Design, 6-12 to ensure vertical product alignment
WHAT SHOULD BE IN YOUR BOOKBAG
  • 5-7 years of print and digital instructional design experience, K-5 ELA preferred
  • BA in Education, English, or Communications
  • MA in Education, English, or Instructional Design (preferred)
  • Expert knowledge of evidence-based reading instruction
  • Proficiency in Spanish a plus
  • Classroom experience preferred
  • Expertise in the publishing process, including understanding of cross-functional roles in the content development process, the K-12 sales cycle, and product lifecycle.
  • Ability to set and strongly adhere to project budgets and timelines
  • Ability to see the big picture, think critically, and also pay exquisite attention to detail
  • Thought leadership in curriculum and instructional design
  • Disposition to relentlessly solve problems rather than be stopped by them
  • Expert communicator with exceptional writing and editorial skills
  • Desire and ability to foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, collaboration, and flexibility
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Content platforms (including Drive, Docs, and Sheets), and Adobe Acrobat
