Role Overview:  Green Chimneys School offers an enriched academic environment with a vast array of innovative programming, including life skills, music and art, therapeutic animal-assisted activities, and outdoor education, all based in experiential learning. The fully integrated approach to education at Green Chimneys includes Academics, Therapeutic Education, Clinical & Related Services, Animal & Nature programs, and Vocational Education. Within this setting, the School Principal is responsible for supervising the Education Leadership team and assisting in the formulation and general oversight of the academic program at Green Chimneys. He/She/They will maintain a balanced working relationship between the Education Department and other departments. In addition, the Principal acts as a liaison with the Clinical Department and monitors Quality Assurance within the Education Program. Involvement with CSE and parents is expected. Specific Responsibilities include: supervising school programs at Brewster, overseeing the Student Support Program during the school day, direct supervision of school staff on Brewster campus, completing individual supervision weekly for the education leadership team, attending school events and Parent Association meetings and ensuring NYSED regulations are being followed. Along with working closely with the Director of Education at the Clearpool School to ensure consistency between schools in instruction and behavior modification practices and following basic policies and procedures.
  What you bring to Green Chimneys: Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, and Disability Studies OR Doctorate in Education. Must have supervisory or administrative experience, preferably in an 853c school. Minimum of ten years teaching experience required. Licensure/Certification: Administration supervision certification and New York State permanent certification in Special Education.
