The role of a paraprofessional is to support students in Pre-K programs. This role will be working alongside a Lead Teacher to support a group of 14-16 students. The Teacher Assistant shall assist the Lead Teacher in creating and promoting a healthy, safe, active hands-on learning environment for all children.
The primary responsibilities of the position are as follows:
Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material of skills.
Assist with large group activities as reading aloud, storytelling, lunch time, free play, recess, etc.
Communicates with classroom teacher about any concerns regarding students.
Assist with classroom teacher in daily set up, prep, and clean up
Help planning lesson plans based on specific needs of each child
Collaborate with teachers to monitor the development of each child
Understand the teachers routine when it comes to delivering a lesson plan and running the class in the event the teacher is absent
Supervise students in various settings, including the classroom, playground and during specials
Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
- Organizational, communication and problem-solving skills are also essential to this position. Assistants should be able to think creatively, make good decisions, and communicate effectively with all co-workers/parents. Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children to effectively problem solve is essential.
Certification in CPR and First Aide preferred.
Qualified applicant may seek additional hours through our After-school program. - At least 2 yearsof relevant experience preferred
- High School/Trade School degree preferred
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
