Job Description

Position Title: Applied Behavior Analysis Implementer (Autism) - Special Education

Payroll/Personnel Type: 10 Month

Reports to: Special Education Autism Coordinator

Position Summary:

The SPED ABA Implementer will deliver, monitor and document Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other related developmental disabilities, including discrete trial and positive behavior development.

Essential Functions:
  • Implement the delivery of ABA services to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related disabilities including discrete trial and positive behavior development
  • Collaborate with case managers while monitoring and coaching ICAs and other staff who assist in the delivery of ABA therapy
  • Model proper implementation of behavior principles and verify the integrity of the data collected during ABA therapy sessions
  • Insure that individual student programs are updated regularly based upon data taken
  • Prepare or secure instructional and reinforcing materials needed to provide ABA
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the IEP process and legalities, as well as established evidence based practices in schools for students with ASD
  • Assist in providing initial and ongoing training in basic behavioral principles and methodologies of applied behavior analysis to designated staff
  • Update assessments for programming, including ABLLS, VB-MAPP, AFLS and student observations to determine ABA programming, aligned with the students IEP
  • Collaborate with the IEP team to complete preference and reinforce assessments; functional behavior assessments; and to develop behavior intervention plans as needed
  • Provide ABA services along a continuum of least restrictive environment while programming for the generalization of acquired skills
  • Complete written progress reports of students receiving ABA services
  • Attend and demonstrate competency in all district wide autism related trainings
  • Participate in IEP meetings and reevaluations of assigned students
  • Provide behavioral support to teachers, classroom staff and parents as necessary
  • Maintain annual Mandt certification while acting in accordance with its philosophy and practices
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Area Based ABA Coordinator and Autism Process Coordinator


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Current working knowledge of ASD and evidence based educational practices
  • Must have the ability to train staff in program implementation
  • Must be familiar with the Reauthorization of IDEA and how it relates to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must have the ability to assist teachers in writing compliant IEP goals and objectives addressing individual strengths and weaknesses
  • Must be knowledgeable about Applied Behavioral Analysis principles and methodologies
  • Must demonstrate competency and maintain annual certification in Mandt


Experience:
  • Three years of experience working with students with autism
  • Specific experience in behavior and instructional strategies related to the areas of Applied Behavior Analysis


Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in or related field (required)
  • Training in Applied Behavior Analysis techniques and programming
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Board Certified Associate Behavior Analysis (BCABA -preferred)


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
  • Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree


Working Conditions and Environment:
  • Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment
  • Very limited or no exposure to physical risk
