    Counselor, Guidance Elementary (Temporary September-December)

    JOB GOAL:
    To provide guidance services, advocacy and collaboration to support students, parents, teachers and administrators in resolving various types of educational, social, civic and personal situations and to promote growth for students.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Arizona Teaching Certificate with Guidance Counselor endorsement.
    2. Maintain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Temporary: September-December 2022
    COMPENSATION: $53,946 (annual compensation to be prorated based on number of days worked)
    BENEFITS: As per District policy
    REPORTS TO: Principal
    HOURS: 40 hours per week and may require longer hours
    CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
    1. Adhere to laws, policies, procedures and ethical standards of the school counseling profession.
    2. Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards as outlined by ASCA.
    3. Coordinate and facilitate prevention and intervention programs.
    4. Advise administrators and faculty on matters of student discipline.
    5. Work with teachers and other staff members to familiarize them with the general range of services offered by the student personnel services department and to improve the educational prospects of individual students being counseled.
    6. Provide in-service training in guidance for new faculty members, teachers and student teachers.
    7. Take an active role in interpreting the school's objectives to students, parents and the community at large.
    8. Initiate and implement individual and group counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding and maturity.
    9. Work with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems, relations, health and emotional adjustment.
    10. Implement an effective referral and follow-up process as needed.
    11. Maintain records of counseling services and consulting contacts.
    12. Initiate and assemble accurate and pertinent records. Initiate, assemble, maintain and interpret cumulative progress records and uniform transcript records for assigned students.
    13. Work to resolve student's educational handicaps.
    14. Work to discover and develop the special abilities of students.
    15. Work to identify and refer students with special needs.
    16. Confer with parents whenever necessary.
    17. Cooperate with outside agencies and other Special Needs services within the district.
    18. Register with Medicaid as a provider and maintain required logs and times studies.
    19. Perform other duties as assigned.
