Position Summary:

As the instructional leader, the director is first and foremost responsible for increasing student achievement by consistently ensuring the implementation of the instructional practices and strategies endorsed by ChanceLight and in accordance with the Ombudsman policies.

The position operates with oversight and guidance from the supervisor in carrying out the essential duties and responsibilities to provide overall leadership, quality assurance, managerial and administrative support for the Ombudsman site. The position oversees all site operations and functions as the liaison between the site and the school districts' designated site contacts by establishing and maintaining positive, interactive, working relationships. The director assists in the interviewing, hiring and training of all site personnel and supervises the site staff to assure quality instruction is delivered and Ombudsman policies and procedures are implemented in an effective and efficient manner. The position also oversees the timely collection, reporting, analyses and presentation of critical information and data in appropriate formats to management, districts and various other members of the community which may benefit OES, ie; board members, local government officials, civic organizations and neighboring businesses.

Position Details:
  • Provide vision and leadership to support student achievement and effective operations by supervising staff, developing and implementing performance management plans, identifying professional learning needs and participating in professional learning opportunities
  • Effectively participate in the employment process to ensure an effective site team is in place.
  • Provide supervision through assigning work, helping create personal development plans, consistently monitoring and evaluating employee effectiveness and communicating and coaching employee development Actively recognize accomplishments and address issues to ensure productive site operations.
  • Ensure the safety of staff and students by maintaining the site and classrooms for operation.
  • Ensure compliance with contract and specific state require Ensure that all staff is knowledgeable of the specific success criteria outlined in the contract and any requirements set forth by the state.
  • Perform a wide range of managerial responsibilities including, but not limited to: staff supervision, scheduling, technology, and facility.
  • Represent Ombudsman at community, district and local levels.
  • Communicate and collaborate with families, district and community member.
  • Analyze the professional development needs of staff and align implementation with the instructional vision and Ombudsman and district goal.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership, team building, and written skills.
  • Instruct, monitor and evaluate teachers and students in the use of learning materials and equipment to ensure fidelity of instruction and student performance/evaluation. Observe, evaluate and report staff and student performance and development.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, Ombudsman policies and district policies.
  • Prepare and present required reports on student progress, achievement and activities, ensuring accuracy in numerical analysis and present. Compiles analyzes and uses assessment data to measure student growth, guide instruction and/or academic intervention for each student and site.
  • Model and oversee the implementation of ChanceLight identified instructional practices and strategies that facilitate active learning experiences and support the instructional vision for the site. Effectively monitor and use ChanceLight provided materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Manage student behavior in the center by embracing the Ombudsman philosophy and policies, and apply appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary. Perform duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encourage.
  • Participate in the assurance and accreditation processes to ensure that the site passes or meets performance
  • Keeps up to date with research-based practices and developments in subject area, resources, and professional development, including but not limited to organization-wide initiatives such as CPI.
  • Provide, solicit and respond constructively to formal and informal feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with site team, field level support and national support for the good of the organization.
