Performs the full range of professional duties required to draft high-level talking points that will serve as a foundation for all key messaging on critical Division issues for senior leadership, School Board members, and the Division Superintendent; serves as the senior writer and supports executive-level communications projects; researches, writes, and prepares remarks, talking points, executive-level correspondence and strategic messaging to support communicating the Division's mission and vision.

Qualifications:
Required
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience related to journalism in a media setting and/or high-level writing in a pressurized environment.
- May require work on evenings, holidays, and weekends.
- Knowledge of current best practices to effectively communicate with a broad range of stakeholders and diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of public education, journalism/news media, and public relation practices.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to public information, privacy rights, and communications.
- Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style and grammar.
- Skilled in executive-level writing, proofreading, and editing.
- Skilled in understanding the subtle messaging behind a choice of words.
- Proficiency in the use of technology.
- Ability to write formal speeches and craft talking points on complex policy issues.
- Ability to write effectively under pressure within a fast-paced, deadline driven, and complex environment.
- Excellent human relations skills and ability to establish and maintain successful cooperative relationships.
- Ability to work as part of a team to ensure a program meets its goals.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
