Pay Range: 46: $25.34 - $26.89 per hour, D.O.E.
40 hours per week. Hours TBD
Non-Exempt, Benefits Eligible

Definition:
Under administrative direction of the Director of Special Education provides quality Occupational Therapy services to individuals under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.

Essential Functions:

Tasks:

Provides individuals or groups direct service that follows a documented schedule and agreed upon intervention plan.
  • Communicates and interacts with other team members, family and school staff, in collaboration with an Occupational Therapist.
  • May represent the Occupational Therapy Department in IEP, MET and Student Study meetings.
  • Implements and coordinates intervention plans.
    Maintains records and documentation required by the Special Education Department.
  • Adapts environment, tools, materials and activities to enhance the success of each student.
  • Assists with data collection and evaluation.
  • Assists with the development of Individualized Education Plans, goals and objectives.
  • Performs continuous quality improvement activities or program evaluations in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist.
  • Follows policies and procedures required in a school setting.
  • Monitors own performance and identifies supervisory needs.
  • Functions according to the AOTA code of ethics and standards.
  • May prioritize work schedule in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist.
  • Identifies and pursues professional growth and development.
  • May assist with standardized tests under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist after service competency has been established.
  • Maintains intervention/treatment area, equipment and supply inventory.
  • Exhibits patience, courtesy and tact in dealing with others.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
Certification by the National Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
Compliance with state regulatory and certification requirements.
Equivalent combination of education/training/experience.

Additional Qualifications Desired:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Pediatric experience in a clinical or educational setting

Computer Proficiency: Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Word, and specialized IEP software.

Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion is required to supplement normal sedentary work. Assistance is available in the event heavy physical exertion is required. Work may involve standing for extended time periods, sitting, bending, reaching, walking, and grasping. Occasional lifting and carrying weight up to 50 pounds or assisting in moving or lifting children may be required. Visual or hearing weakness must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties. Verbal communicative ability required in public contact positions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works indoors - classroom environment. Outdoors - playground, exposure to all weather conditions and temperatures. Exposure to noise and dust. Extensive contact with students, parents, teachers, external agencies, and the public.
