Summary
Utilize computer publishing system to create from concept to production (pre-press and camera-ready mechanicals, pre-flighting on disk for output) print pieces that relate given information to the purpose. This includes brochures, newsletters, posters, catalogs, book/booklets, system forms and a myriad of print materials to be used by the system to distribute information to staff, students, parents, community and businesses. Communicate with customers throughout all processes of the project to provide quality work that meets or exceeds expectations. Reviews projects with supervisor in order to maintain products and services within guidelines. Consults with co-workers as necessary on projects.
Changing technology is making multimedia a necessity in this area. This position must be able to accommodate these technology changes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Qualifications: Four year college degree in Graphic Design is preferred. Two years college with emphasis on computer skills in design, page layout, illustration and image manipulation software with three years job related experience can be substituted. Other qualifications include creativity and experience in producing print materials such as brochures, newsletters, posters, catalogs, book/booklets, system forms and other print materials needed by the system, network experience and overall printing knowledge. Proficiency in the use of computer software including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and PageMaker software or equivalent of Freehand, QuarkXpress software preferred.

- Secures all phases of graphic design and production generates
- Designs and creates layout, typography, manipulation of photography and illustrations
- Selects paper suited to projects, color, etc
- Interacts with the Graphic Arts Supervisor and the Graphic Arts Production Assistant on matters such as scheduling, maintaining quality, ordering of supplies, and maintaining record keeping as to assure customer satisfaction
- Secures proper signatures on all printing requests and works through the proofing and revision processes until final signatures approving copy for press are received
- Assists in preparations of documents for the Inter-Doc-System Operator
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Graphic Arts Supervisor
