This posting is for 4 AVID Tutor positions, which will be assigned to Chehalis Middle School and W.F. West High School. The positions will range in hours from 1.75 hours per day to 4 hours per day for two-days per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays). Schedule to be determined.

The job of the Student Worker-AVID Tutor (Advancement via Individual Determination) is described below. AVID tutors will be trained to support AVID tutorial strategies under the direction of a classroom teacher.

JOB DUTIES:

• Will provide tutorial services to students in the AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) course
• Will work with small groups of students, providing support and leadership during an AVID tutorial session
• Will be trained in AVID tutorial strategies and will confer with appropriate staff to support the AVID program
• Will represent the AVID beliefs of accomplishment when representing this program
• Perform other duties, as assigned

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be a high school graduate
• Current enrollment in college, preferred
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background clearance is required if age 21 and over (cost paid by applicant); Washington State Patrol background check required if under the age of 21

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

This is a temporary position and it will end on the last student day of the current school year or upon change in program needs.

Salary Rate Range : 14.49
