Essex Westford School District is seeking a temporary 7th-grade English Language Arts teacher to join our creative, dedicated team at Essex Middle School. This position is currently expected to start in January 2023 for the remainder of the 22/23 school year to cover a leave of absence. Due to the percentage of the school year worked, the salary mentioned for this position is .5 of a teacher's annual income.

EWSD is committed to considering out-of-state candidates who are eligible to hold a Vermont educator license but do not yet hold a license in this state. Folks with experience working in another country, the ability to fluently speak more than one language, peace corp. experience, and/or otherworldly experience are encouraged to apply to help contribute to a diversity of thinking and grow our organizational practices.

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
  • Hold (or be eligible to hold) a valid VT educator license with a middle-level English Language Arts endorsement (4-19A) preferred; secondary English (2-05) and/or Elementary (1-00) endorsements are also considered.
  • Dedication to providing students with a safe, welcoming, and respectful learning environment.
  • The ability to engage and inspire students to excel in English Language Arts.
  • Familiarity and understanding of the Common Core Standards as they relate to English.
  • Ability to utilize technology to support instruction within a middle school setting.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in developing standards-based units, assessments, reports, and differentiated instruction to support student learning, and adjust lesson delivery.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a willingness to take risks as a continuous active learner as part of our Essex Middle School community.
