Manager of Agile Coaching

Position summary

The Manager of Agile Coaching will lead, build and mentor a team of agile coaches providing coaching and implementation and application of agile practices across multiple teams and value streams delivering high-value business capabilities. The Manager of Agile Coaching will also be a hands-on coach for organizational leadership and agile teams throughout the organization to drive impact and deliver results across the enterprise.

This role exemplifies the agile mindset while serving as a subject matter expert on Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.) and on scaling agile development, including the use of scaling frameworks such as Scaled Agile Framework and [email protected]

The Manager of Agile Coaching will also assist with the development of changes to agile product development practices used by Product Management, Design, Architecture, Product Engineering, and other organizational areas to improve the delivery of business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Leads a team of agile coaches across technology organizations to achieve increasing levels of team performance and business value delivery.
  • Guides and collaborates with other leaders in Lean Portfolio Management and Governance.
  • Rationalizes and aligns scaled agile models across teams and value streams.
  • Responsible for driving and innovating meaningful metrics to reflect to teams, value streams, and senior leadership to show progress at all levels of the portfolio taxonomy and focus on areas for improvement.
  • Ensures the efficacy of the value streams and their related mechanisms in delivering their vision and value.
  • Develops and leads approaches to spread an agile mindset, methodologies, and practices across the enterprise to drive impact and deliver measurable business results.
  • Serves as a senior-level expert in utilizing Agile practices and methodologies to conceptualize ideas and deliver high-value solutions.
  • Coaches' teams through complex situations to achieve greatest level of efficiency in applying agile values, principles, frameworks, and approaches to produce valuable outcomes.
  • Proactively identifies areas for improvement and develops training sessions and workshops to enable meaningful change.
  • Sustains agile methodologies and continuously develops strategies for their improvement and evolution as systems evolve and mature and new insights, methods and techniques emerge in the industry.
  • Develops coaching methods to guide teams in using and sharing data to improve outcomes, delivery, and organizational support.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and coaching to agile coaches, serves as their mentor and an escalation point for impediment removal.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the entire organization.

  • Strong understanding of [email protected], SAFe, and other agile development methodologies.
  • Mastery in the writing and use of OKR to achieve meaningful business outcomes.
  • Excellent grasp of value-based metrics and skill in building, gathering, and tracking the data necessary to support empirical decision-making.
  • Strong command of flow and related metrics that are meaningful to agile teams and teams of teams, that measure how they are performing and the value they are delivering.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • 4+ years' experience enabling Agile at scale (e.g., [email protected], SAFe) at one or more organizations.
  • 5+ years as an agile practitioner and 5+ years as an agile coach managing multiple agile teams
  • [email protected], SAFe certifications preferred
  • Experience as a Scrum Master preferred
