Director of Web Strategy and Operations (Remote)

Position Summary

This position will provide strategic and technical oversight for NWEA's marketing and communications properties including the .ORG site, blogs, partner community, and other emerging platforms. You will be accountable for the performance of NWEA web properties with a focus on lead generation, brand awareness, and community development and engagement. You will lead a high performing team to build innovative experiences and capabilities that will increase awareness, drive growth, and improve engagement/conversion across our web properties. You will partner with content marketing, demand generation, design, UX, and engineering teams to deliver web experiences that bring our brand to life and show educators what is possible with NWEA solutions.

The Director of Web Strategy and Operations will manage internal teams and external resources to continuously update and improve NWEA's web properties. This is a high visibility role that requires strong collaboration and decision making skills, creativity, and domain expertise to make a significant impact towards our vision and mission.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a vision, strategy, and action plan for evolving NWEA's digital presence to reinforce organizational strategic goals
  • Champion an integrated approach to end-to-end partner experience, encompassing needs of core audiences served by digital properties
  • Align the cross-functional organization on essential web strategies, infrastructure requirements, and programs in support of overarching company goals
  • Work cross functionally to prioritize (business impact, tech capacity required) the feature and optimization backlog. Provide visibility to backlog to key stakeholders
  • Identify and champion investment opportunities to transform our web ecosystem and build capabilities for growth and scale
  • Manage internal and external teams to create and maintain high-quality online experiences including design, user experience, and strategic integration
  • Build a data-driven organization with expertise, tools, reporting and processes to inform and drive experiments and conversion tests across our portfolio of websites.
  • Design Key Performance Indicators and success metrics for all web properties and articulate outcomes to the organization
  • Implement and leverage A/B testing and personalization strategies to drive better engagement on the website and experiences for prospects and partners
  • Work with partner teams to optimize effectiveness of online presence and ensure proper lead management process
  • Develop, implement, maintain and continuously refine search engine optimization (SEO) programs for all digital properties
  • Manage external vendors and agency relationships
  • Manage enterprise-level governance practices for all marketing digital experiences
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure success of the team and the entire organization


Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to lead, align, and deliver an organization into a new era digital property optimization and ROI, elevate the overall team value and impact with executive leadership, and secure support towards our vision for a mature and modern ecosystem
  • Leadership in driving critical thinking for impactful digital experiences, initiating customer insight studies, channel efficacy reports, roadmap planning, stakeholder management, and steering committee leadership. You've been accountable for business results and exceeded them on the web
  • A strong storyteller with the ability to communicate your vision, strategy, business cases, and roadmap to influence and advocate in a complex organization.
  • Sophisticated knowledge of Web analytics tools, SEO, A/B and multivariate testing and a track record of educating business partners as to their efficacy and utility
  • Strong technical understanding and comfort working closely and collaboratively with technology teams on content-managed web systems, including familiarity with key technologies and capabilities: CMS platforms, SEO, demand generation, personalization, measurement
  • Comprehensive understanding of Web design and development best practices
  • Commitment to designing user-centered experiences
  • Superior management skills; ability to guide both technical and creative aspects of interactive work
  • Exceptional project management and communication skills
  • Experience with the education market a plus

Education and Experience

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in interactive design, marketing or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 7-10 years interactive strategy, design, and development experience with emphasis on business-to-business online marketing
  • 5-10 years of experience managing direct reports and outside vendors
  • Combination of agency and client-side experience a plus
