PURPOSE OF JOB:
This part-time position will support late-entry, under-credited high school ELLs in accelerating their credit attainment through collaboration with Evening Academy teachers and the EL Academic Advisor to scaffold the language expectations of lessons and assignments, with the goal of attaining a high school diploma.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Provide access to educational options that allow late-entry, under-credited ELLs to earn and recover credits using an online platform.
Support lessons and core academic instruction utilizing various instructional delivery
methods and strategies such as technology-assisted instruction, individualized and small
group activities to support ELLs with language and content.
Implement individual plans of instruction based on assessment results and prepare students
to demonstrate measurable progress toward mastery of the program.
Confer and collaborate with the coordinator and lead teacher to convey student progress and/or address lesson scaffolds to support student language levels. Maintain student progress and attendance records in the student SIS system and for the
Educational Innovation Office.
Maintain a productive daily schedule for the purpose of instructional activities and other
duties.
Participate in a variety of meetings, committees, workshops and trainings as assigned for
the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of academic support and
student success.
Report to work 3:00 pm - 7:15 pm. Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NONE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Missouri Teacher certification in grades 7-12 in any subject
ESOL certification in the state of MO (or in progress)
2 years successful teaching experience with middle to late adolescent children-working
with at risk children
Desire to see students succeed and meet goals
Ability to work as a team with other teachers and staff
Ability to work independently when needed
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, school staff,
families, community and other stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual in one of district's top 4 languages (Spanish, Swahili, Somali, Burmese)
