SUMMARY:

The \"Accountant\" at National Heritage Academies (NHA) is responsible for maintaining and administering accounts receivable records and files, process payments, prepare financial reports and facilitate collections as necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for maintaining cash book, including the monthly close process.
  • Coding, tracking, and uploading deposits and payments.
  • Initiating bank transfers.
  • Responsible for shared maintenance billings.
  • Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Produce and reconcile Board Fund reports.
  • Assist with financial and program audits, including pulling invoices and other related support.
  • Assist with month end closing process, helping to ensure an accurate and timely close.
  • Create reoccurring journal entries and maintain related support.
  • Review monthly account activity; prepare correcting journal entries as necessary.
  • Analyze and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts, including various Receivable, Prepaid and Accrual accounts. Investigate and follow up on any variances or unusual items.
  • Reconcile all school bank accounts to general ledger and cash book.
  • Make bank deposits for any checks or cash sent to service center.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the fixed asset ledger, including reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Stay current with asset capitalization rules and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of accounting department.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
  • 1- 2 years of professional experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate with individuals from various business units throughout the organization and represent National Heritage Academies (NHA) in a professional manner.
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Excel.
  • Experience with school accounting is a plus.
