Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Day School is a private, day and residential school for students between the ages of 6-21 years and is fully approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education. Students with behavioral, emotional and learning disabilities are offered individualized assessment and planning in a supportive environment in order to identify their needs and strengths

Under the supervision of the Education Director, the Special Education (IEP) Coordinator is an active member of the Devereux School Leadership team. In conjunction with the Curriculum Director and Education Director, the Special Education (IEP) Coordinator assesses student progress trends and identifies students in need of additional supports. The Special Education (IEP) Coordinator demonstrates expertise in developing and implementing IEP documents that are in compliance with DESE regulations and state & federal laws.

The position holds a critical role in collaborating with families/guardians, school districts, and involved agencies and acts as a Devereux representative during external meetings.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Must have a masters degree
  • Minimum of 3 year teaching experience in a Special Education Classroom; Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of DESE Regulations, state and federal education laws.
  • Experience with IEP development and implementation required
  • Must have initial Licensure in Special Education
  • Must be able to complete paid orientation training, first 2 weeks of employment: Monday - Friday from 8am - 4pm

Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate's understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.
