Qualifications:
  • Paterson STEAM High School's Vice Principal will support all aspects of the academic program and operational needs of a school that creates a learning environment where students have the opportunity to engage in courses that emphasize project-based learning with an interdisciplinary (STEAM) focus. The successful candidate will have a strong background in STEAM learning that enables them to support teachers' planning and instructional practice in an interdisciplinary environment that is geared towards improving the quality of life for global citizens and sustaining and protecting global ecosystems. Expertise in one or more of the following pathways is preferred: Engineering, Sustainability Studies, Computer Science and Information Technology, and Medical and Dental Arts.
    Familiarity with systems thinking and expertise in creating and supporting a collaborative approach to problem solving is critical for this role. As an instructional leader, the successful candidate will need to collaborate with key stakeholders across departments and with community, industry, and higher education partners to design and implement high quality course content and ancillary programs. We are seeking an administrator with a strong commitment to ensuring that all students have access to a caring, supportive school community and high-quality instruction.
    The Vice Principal assumes responsibility for supervising students and staff and assists the High School Principal with implementing and managing the policies, regulations, and procedures of the Board of Education to ensure that all students meet and exceed the State Core Curriculum Content Standards, following the approved curricula and directives of the school.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • New Jersey administrative certificate in accordance with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 18A:27.1 et seq., and N.J.A.C. Title 6 Chapter 11, with a principal endorsement (N.J.A.C. 6:11-9.3 and 9.5).
  • Have a minimum of five (5) ycars excellent experience in teaching and/or administration, and working with adolescents.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to motivate people.
  • Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative. Hold a valid driver's license with no serious violations. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of effective discipline strategies and motivation, curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use computers for word processing, data management, and telecommunications. Provide proof of U. S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
  • Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education. During the initial six-month period, provide a sworn statement that there have not been any convictions of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with | 8A:6-7.1.
  • Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with NJ.AC. 6:3- 4A.4.
  • Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
  • Meet such alternates to the above qualifications as, as the Superintendent may deem appropriate, acceptable and legal.
