The Role:
Our 50/50 Chinese-English Dual Language Immersion Program is seeking an upper grade Mandarin teacher. They will teach all skills and concepts in the 4th and 5th Grade Massachusetts Curriculum Framework. The teacher will be responsible for implementing differentiated, innovative instruction to a diverse group of student learners. The teacher will have an appreciation and awareness for the unique developmental needs of children in the Novice and Intermediate proficiency levels in Mandarin. The teacher will work closely and cooperatively with grade level, 3-5 cluster, and whole school teams of faculty including special educators, ESL educators, instructional coaches and paraprofessional aides. The teacher will incorporate a variety of assessment strategies including district wide exams and formative assessment in order to inform and modify instruction and target intervention and enrichment needs.

Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Extended Term Substitute Chinese Teacher you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
- Awareness of the developmental needs of elementary aged learners and the strategies to meet those needs through the curriculum.
- Previous and successful experience working in a multicultural environment that includes students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Experience in providing Mandarin language, culture and instruction to American public school students.
- A commitment to equity in education and a belief that all students are capable of excelling in their education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body.
- A devotion to life-long learning by participating in on-going district-wide and out-of-school professional development opportunities.
- Preferred Massachusetts certification in Foreign Language: Chinese, and/or Elementary 1-6.
