Cambridge Rindge & Latin School is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. Honors courses are offered in all core classes (English, History, Mathematics, and Science); Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available to qualified students in grades 11 and 12.

The Opportunity:
The Cambridge Rindge and Latin School seeks an extended term substitute Mathematics Teacher, Grades 9-12, to join our caring and innovative community beginning September 2022 through November 2022. The successful candidate will have experience planning, implementing, and adapting curriculum based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for Mathematics and the associated mathematical practice standards. S/he will create a positive environment for student learning and involvement, and ensure opportunities for students to be problem solvers by using creativity and critical thinking skills. Leveraging a strong belief that all students are capable of achieving at the highest levels, s/he will provide multiple access points, scaffolding and ongoing feedback within their instruction for a wide range of learners. As a professional, the teacher will display a collegial spirit that supports and enhances continual professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of our school community. Moreover, s/he will be fully committed to continuous learning, improving, reflecting and working together to ensure that all students achieve at high levels.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with Massachusetts State Standards and CRLS Instructional Guidelines.
  • Communicate regularly with students and families and involve families as partners in their child's learning and development. Encourage families to further the mission of the school.
  • Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs and improve instructional practices throughout the school.
  • Establish and communicate a classroom culture of high expectations and a growth mindset for every student.
  • Collaborate with all team members, including but not limited to, special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel.
  • Constantly assess student understanding and refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs.
  • Integrate social emotional learning into the classroom and work to foster a safe, caring, and active learning community.
  • Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizations.
  • Integrate technology within instruction to increase student comprehension and joy of learning.
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Extended Term Substitute Mathematics Teacher you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
  • Two or more years of secondary Mathematics teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Experience leading instruction in urban school settings.
  • A deep commitment to equity and culturally responsive instruction.
  • Strong knowledge of Common Core/ MA Curriculum Framework for Mathematics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Massachusetts Teacher Certification/Licensure Mathematics preferred.
  • Interest or previous experience in teaching a variety of grade levels and courses including Advanced Placement and Computer Science classes.
  • A strong work ethic, alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel.
