General Description

Serves as caretaker for all categories of supplies stocked or stored in the Warehouse Services facilities. Tasks performed are under limited supervision and require coordination with others. Frequent contacts are made within the organization.

Essential Job Functions
  • Plans, coordinates, and promotes District-wide fixed asset physical inventory process.
  • Coordinates, updates, and maintains the tracking database for new and existing capital and non-capital fixed assets including asset identification tagging, location identification, physical count, and departmental equipment custodians.
  • Conducts periodical and annual fixed assets physical inventories, and coordinates campus assets physical inventories Building Operations Supervisors
  • Coordinates transfer of equipment with Facilities and Operations, and updates the assets module with each transfer.
  • Coordinates any variances with relevant fixed assets accounting staff.
  • Provides assistance with the implementation of processes in relation to fixed assets safeguarding.
  • Assists with the development of written processes and procedures for identifying, tracking, transferring, reporting, and as requested, disposing of fixed assets
  • Identifies existing assets without identification tagging numbers, assigns new identification numbers, and posts the newly identifiable assets to the asset module.
  • Supplies information for inventory reports as well as other assets reports and records.
  • Receives shipments from vendors.
  • Advises inventory control of description, unit of issue or any changes in stock which affect the preparation of warehouse catalog.
  • Ensures that all paperwork relative to receipts and issues is forwarded to proper personnel for processing or filing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of warehouse practices and procedures; of material handling equipment used in warehouse services. Knowledge of asset tracking practices common in a commercial environment. Strong computer skills and the ability to effectively utilize spreadsheets for managing and manipulating data. Demonstrated ability to interpret and follow written and oral instructions; to communicate effectively and to plan effective use of time and equipment.

Requirements

Any equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this job. High School diploma or equivalent required. Valid VA Driver's License. This position requires the incumbent to drive. In accordance with Policy 5431, an employee who occupies the position and is assigned a district-owned or leased motor vehicle will be subject to annual driving checks and must maintain acceptable records pursuant to the standards set forth in the policy.
