Through a holistic approach, the Knapp Therapeutic Day School creates an inclusive therapeutic learning community centered around empowering student to reach their full potential.

Position Description:

The purpose of this position is to assist in the establishment and maintenance of a safe and effective educational environment for all students and staff through close collaboration with School Teachers, Clinical Staff, and School Administration.  This person will:

  • Maintain calm, helpful, and appropriate demeanor during crisis and post crisis debrief. 
  • Have familiarity and assist in implementing students’ crisis support plans.
  • Utilize interventions prescribed by TCI, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Ukeru to provide emotional and environmental support for students, with the goal of reducing the likelihood of a crisis situation.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • ISBE Certified Paraprofessional
  • Must be able to successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Ukeru training and maintain the required credentials.
