Through a holistic approach, the Knapp Therapeutic Day School creates an inclusive therapeutic learning community centered around empowering student to reach their full potential.

Position Description:

The Director of Student Support Services is a part of the school leadership team responsible for a variety of tasks related to developing, implementing and assessing school wide policies and practices using clinical knowledge; overseeing student body and individualized support and behavioral management practices and strategies; facilitating staff trainings and identifying additional training needs; collaborating and communicating with school staff, students, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders. This person will:

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members to develop, implement, and assess individualized evidence-based strategies and interventions for student behaviors in the school environment
  • Develop and implement professional development staff trainings in identified areas of need in relevant clinical information and best practice behavior management systems with goal to strengthen services and improve achievement of students
  • Ensure effective therapeutic practices occur, and consistent feedback is always given for the safety of students
  • Maintains records in accordance with school and state policies and write agency required behavioral reports in timely manner

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master’s degree preferred in social work, psychology, counseling, or related experience
  • 5 years of experience with youth with trauma based emotional and behavioral needs
  • Strong leadership skills with supervisory experience
