DUTIES:
  1. Work under the direction of the Senior Custodian performing regular duties of a Junior Building Custodian as it pertains to the cleaning and up-keep of the school building and surrounding grounds.
  2. Performs work such as daily cleaning of floors, walls, windows, toilets, furniture, cleaning and shampooing of carpets; stripping, waxing, and buffing of tile floors and other associated work.
  3. Performs work that requires the ability to climb ladders perform heavy manual labor including emptying trash, shoveling snow, sanding, up-keep of outside grounds, lifting and moving furniture, moving supplies and equipment and performs other related duties as requested.
  4. Delivers supplies.
  5. Prepares building for authorized events and approved permits.
  6. Limits access to building to authorized personnel or those attending an authorized event and approved permits.
  7. Provides quality customer service for building users.
  8. Locks doors, windows and sections of building; activates security alarms.
  9. Ensures nothing is removed from the building without permission from a supervisor, the School Principal, or a designated PBRM official.
  10. Reports vandalism, mechanical malfunctions, broken windows, doors, and other building damage to a supervisor and/or the School Principal.
  11. Provides assistance to maintain safe and effective building operations.
  12. Performs upkeep such as changing light bulbs and replacing ceiling tiles.
  13. Keeps grounds and entranceways free from litter and debris.
  14. Provides assistance needed to maintain security in and around the building.
  15. Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Dependable with the ability to maintain an effective working relationship with the Principal, school staff, City departments, public, contractors, and other building users.
  2. Strong organizational skills and interpersonal relations skills.
  3. Demonstrates effective and reliable work habits, including regular and punctual attendance, and shows a willingness to learn new work skills.
  4. Possession of a Driver's License preferred.
  5. Must be City of Springfield resident.
