SCHOOL ADJUSTMENT COUNSELOR - LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE

Archbishop Williams, a Catholic, college preparatory, co-educational, Grades 7-12 school in Braintree, is seeking a LTS - School Adjustment Counselor to work with students grades 7-12. The tentative dates for this position are late August/early September until early December. This candidate's primary task is to address the impact various stressors may have on a student's ability to function in our school setting. In addition to individual and small group counseling, their duties include responsive services, such as crisis prevention and intervention.

Experience, training, and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Experience working with students who are struggling with emotional/behavioral disorders and self-regulation;
-Serve as the prime liaison between the school, the family, and the community;

-Knowledge of special education laws and regulations that govern the identification of children with disabilities;

-Assist families in obtaining outside resources and social service agencies for support as needed;

-Strong positive, interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with students, staff, administration and families;
-Provide Risk Assessment with students who potentially pose a safety risk to self and/or others;

-Responsible for primary intervention in such areas as: Child abuse, substance abuse, potential suicide, and other psychiatric emergencies and/or critical incidents which occur in the school;

-Experience with and commitment to inclusion that benefits students socially, emotionally and academically;

-Experience with varied profiles and disabilities including but not limited to mild/moderate academic learning disabilities, emotional impairment, attention/hyperactivity, social cognition, and other atypical learner profiles;

-Highly effective oral and written communication skills that promote and encourage collaboration with colleagues, parents, and administrators;

-Highly effective executive functioning skills including being well-organized, strong time management skills, and able to work independently to meet timelines;

-Collaborate with the guidance counselor team, administration, and teachers regarding behavior and mental health supports;

-Implement policies, procedures, plans and directives promulgated by Archbishop Williams High School and required by state and federal laws and regulations
