The Certification Analyst is responsible for ensuring that all employees in APS meet state certification requirements and provide expert advice and service to all inquiries dealing with certification. In addition, the analyst must verify and monitor the certification status of applicants and employees, confirm district compliance with state certification and licensing requirements, and provide training to internal staff.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, HR Information Systems, and virtual collaboration tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, solve problems, make decisions, and complete assignments on time
  • Ability to manage databases; develop charts, tables, and graphs
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work, with interruptions
  • Detail oriented ability; analytical aptitude
  • Knowledge of best practices in HR preferred

Essential Duties
  • Ensures highly responsive and exceptional quality customer service is provided.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in certification for the entire APS organization.
  • Administers all services related to teacher and administrator certification, including the maintenance and renewal of applicable certification endorsements.
  • Advises personnel regarding specific coursework, tests, or workshops needed to meet initial certification and renewal requirements and/or requirements for additional endorsement areas.
  • Processes certification applications and verifies certification with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GPSC), universities, colleges, and education agencies in other states.
  • Collaborates with school and HR leadership on the evaluation of employment transcripts, education units, credentials, etc., to identify and assess certificated applicants, teacher eligibility, and placement according to GPSC assignment criteria.
  • Tracks certification, testing, and waiver status and follows up with employees to ensure certification requirements are met within established timelines.
  • Processes GPSC permit/waiver applications and monitors status.
  • Researches and maintains current information on GPSC and federal rules, certification requirements and processes, and testing dates.
  • Maintains a wide variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records (e.g., certificates, licenses, performance evaluations, continuing education credits, tuition reimbursement, etc.) to provide up-to-date information and historical reference following established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents as required, including maintaining a database of certification and licensing information for certified or licensed professionals, paraprofessionals, and auxiliary employees to make recommendations and prepare information for the supervisor.
  • Prepares correspondence, forms, and reports according to district standards and requirements.
  • Communicates and trains various internal and external individuals (e.g., certified applicants, employees, etc.) to provide and acquire accurate and up-to-date information concerning state certification processes, policies, procedures, and related legal requirements.
  • Coordinates a wide variety of projects, functions, and program components (e.g., certification eligibility, expiration dates of credentials, etc.) to ensure efficient processing of employees in addressing position requirements and adhering to legal and administrative requirements.
  • Assists HR directors with evaluating employment transcripts, education units, credentials, etc., to assess certificated applicants' eligibility and placement.
  • Responds to a wide variety of inquiries from internal and external parties (e.g., procedural/policy questions, screening/interview inquiries, notification procedures, etc.) to provide information, facilitate communication among parties, and provide directions.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed

Requirements :

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree required

WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation, or the availability to get to off-site meetings
  • 3 years working in the area of educator certification preferred.
  • Experience working in an urban school district preferred.
