ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS
  • NYS Certification in Elementary (B-2 and 1-6), Literacy, or Students with Disabilities
  • Familiarity with Teachers' College Reading and Writing Workshop.
  • Confirmed ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with peers, parents, students and supervisors on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technology and its application in the classroom.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in modifying/adapting the ELA curriculum to meet student needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate reading instruction for the different grade levels.
  • Coursework directly relating to primary and elementary level students.
  • Ability to reflect and contemplate on one's teacher - allowing for growth and continuous improvement.
  • Evidence of successful teaching of reading
  • Evidence of good interpersonal skills with students
  • Ability to motivate and engage students in reading activities
  • Understanding of the New York State ELA standards and the Early Literacy Initiative
  • Belief that all students' learning can be accelerated
DUTIES:
  • Assist in the implementation and delivery of literacy and math instruction to students in a K-4 building.
