Reports to: Principal

This is a grant-funded position and continuation of the position is solely based upon the receipt of grant funds. The grant funding will terminate on June 30, 2024.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for providing support to the instructional program by providing support to students identified for reading and/or intervention in order to accelerate student achievement. Will collaborate with classroom teachers in order to support each student's successful application of reading and/or numeracy strategies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Monitors, guides, and supports students beyond Tier 1/classroom instruction.

Monitors and evaluates BOY, MOY and EOY and other benchmark data in order to accelerate student achievement.

Monitors and review BOY, MOY and EOY and other benchmark date site assessment data with Principal and teachers.

Compiles and recommends student intervention services thus accelerating student achievement.

Collaborates and utilizes site/district support and resources to aligned expectations, processes and outcomes to meet learning needs.

Reviews and studies professional learning materials and texts advancing expertise and delivery of highest quality literacy and numeracy practices.

Assist students, individually and in small groups, with lesson assignments, practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching academic goals and grade level standards.

Attend meetings, workshops, conferences, trainings, etc. receiving and conveying information relative to job functions.

Communicate with teachers regarding student progress, participating in needs assessments and assisting in evaluating progress.

Implement interventions, under the supervision of assigned teacher, presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.

Maintain manual and electronic files and records providing written reference and meeting mandated requirements.

Monitor individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

Report health and safety issues to instructional personnel, administrative personnel and/or appropriate agencies maintaining students' personal safety, a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.

Respond to emergency situations resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

Perform other related duties as required/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, required.

Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

Missouri Elementary Education 1-6 Teaching Certification required (for Elementary positions).

Missouri Middle School 5-9 teaching ELA or Math (for Middle School positions).

Master's Degree in Education, preferred.

Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.

Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, including: operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects and programs; overseeing program financial activities; developing effective working relationships; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and administering personnel policies and procedures; and coordinating with other agencies.

Ability to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, analyze and/or classify data; to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Department and programs.

Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals under a wide variety of circumstances.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 5% walking, and 75% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.

The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.

Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, grasping, hearing, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, visual acuity and walking.
