Greenwich Public Schools is seeking a full-time professional assistant to support the Greenwich High School Science Department as Instructional Aide.
Interested candidates must have at least an Associate's degree or 60 college credits. A degree in science is preferred. The successful candidate will: demonstrate knowledge in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics; demonstrate knowledge of biology, chemistry, and physics to prepare labs for high school students; be able to follow directions efficiently and effectively, responding to requests in a timely manner; ensure a safe, organized, and clean science lab environment; assist colleagues in a positive manner; follow all policies and procedures set forth by the school district.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Lab set-up for all teachers
• Put together all lab materials (solutions, equipment, preparations, etc.) for teachers based on advance notice from teachers of 24 hours
• Communicate with lead science teacher (Learning Facilitator, or LF designee)
2. Clean up and organization of biology, chemistry, and physics lab prep rooms
• Clean up completed labs for teachers
• Restock materials and equipment
• Ensure general cleanliness of each room
3. Equipment inventory
• Keep track of amounts of materials.
4. Serve as an instructional aide in the classroom as needed by teacher
• Help teachers with distribution, monitoring, or other non-instructional classroom responsibilities during labs
• Support teachers in the adaptation of student work and/or the creation of tactiles as necessary
5. Miscellaneous department support duties
• Photocopy during high-volume times of year, such as the weeks before midterms and final exams
• Retrieve mail from main office
6. Filing and organization of MSDS sheets
