The Family Ambassador Coordinator is a non-unionized, not exempt position that will report to the Principal. This position is a part of the Burlington School District's commitment to Recognizing Injustice and seeking Equity. It is designed to build stronger school-to-family relationships in order to support students and foster a more culturally responsive and welcoming school community. The Family Ambassador Coordinator position will build a trusting partnership between the school, staff, and families to improve the school experience and the academic performances of our students, particularly from historically marginalized groups.

The Family Ambassador Coordinator would recruit family members representing each of the following groups of students that are historically underserved:
  • students requiring special education
  • students from lower socio-economic status
  • students learning English
  • students from the Global Majority
  • students from the LGBTQ+ community

This is a part-time, hourly position that would require up to 10-15 hours per week (max).

The Essential Functions of this position include
  • Understand school systems; such as:
  1. Daily school schedules
  2. Bus transportation
  3. Parent-teacher conferences
  4. PowerSchool forms and information
  5. Grading in Schoology
  6. School communications
  7. After-school programming, etc
  1. Recruit, coordinate and manage Family Ambassadors who would support families through the various school systems
  2. Increase cultural understanding of the Hunt community, including parents, staff, and students.
  3. This could involve inviting ambassadors or other members of the community representing different identities into Hunt Middle School to talk with students and staff.
  4. Design various workshops and collaborate with community ambassadors to ignite discussions on identity and community engagement
  5. Other duties as assigned


  • Education:
    1. Minimum Required: Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Experience:
    1. Highly organized
    2. Ability to work with multilingual liaisons
    3. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
    4. Strong communication skills


  • Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
  • Working knowledge : Sufficient familiarity with the subject to know basic principles and terminology and to understand and solve simple problems.
  • General knowledge : Sufficient knowledge of a field to perform most work in normal situations. The work calls for comprehension of standard situations and includes knowledge of most of the significant aspects of the subject.
  • Thorough knowledge : Advanced knowledge of the subject matter. The work calls for sufficient comprehension of the subject area to solve unusual as well as common work problems, to be able to advise on technical matters, and to serve as a resource on the subject for others in the organization.
  • Comprehensive knowledge : Requires complete mastery and understanding of the subject. This term should be used sparingly and only for unusually exacting or responsible positions required to originate hypotheses, concepts, or approaches.
