The Middle School (grades 6-8) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced educator to provide full-time leave coverage teaching sixth grade Social Sciences, starting on October 3, 2022, and ending on April 21, 2023. The long-term substitute will have four class sections with at least two class periods for preparation in a rotating block schedule. Additionally, the substitute will be a co-advocate for 9 sixth graders and have an extracurricular assignment and lunch/recess duty. The substitute will meet regularly with the grade-level team and the middle school Social Sciences department to discuss curriculum, pedagogy, student progress, and special initiatives. The sixth grade Social Sciences curriculum fosters critical thinking and exploration of multiple perspectives through argumentative writing, reading, and speaking.
In our hiring process, we are looking for a long-term substitute who can:
- Implement learning experiences and assessments and evaluate student performance in a standards-based system, using a set of established core competencies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
