    Duties
  • Provide technical advice and support to leadership on policy matters
  • Develop strategies to support plans to address the identified shortfalls and gaps in policies
  • Prepare various briefings; prepare correspondence to high level military and congressional individuals
  • Define administrative and functional responsibilities and reporting and make recommendations for new or revised policies/procedures
  • Conduct working groups, task forces, and teams to develop and prepare recommendations
  • Maintain comprehensive databases to provide information used in making organization decisions
  • Develop/revise SOPs

  • Qualifications

    Who May Apply: To be eligible for consideration you must meet the definition of recent graduate as defined below:

    Recent Graduate: a person who was awarded a degree by an institution of higher education not more than two years before the date of the appointment of the applicant. Exception: For a person who has completed a period of obligated service in a uniformed service of more than four years, the degree may be awarded by an institution of higher education not more than four years before the date of the appointment of the applicant.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below.

    To be qualified at the GS-5, you must have completed 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree within the last 2 years.

    To be qualified at the GS-7, you must have completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree; being completed within the last 2 years.

    You meet Superior Academic Achievement if you earned a bachelor's degree with at least one of the following: (1) a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale; (2) a 3.5 GPA for required courses completed in a major field of study during junior and senior year of a 4-year college or university; (3) class standing of upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or a major subdivision of the college; or (4) membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society certified by the Association of College Honor Societies, excluding freshman honor societies;

    To be qualified at the GS-9, you must have completed 2 academic years of graduate level education, or a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree within the last 2 years.

    To be qualified at the GS-11, you must have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree within the last 2 years.

    PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.

    GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

    FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
