Title: Director of Upper Grades Expansion

Reports to: Principal, Winship Elementary

Job Duties:

Operational and Administrative Duties
  • Manage academic partnerships and collaborate with partners who tutor individual students.
  • Work with a team of teachers to create, update, and maintain the Winship Master Schedule.
  • Manage upper grades standardized testing, including MAP for Exam School Testing.
  • Coordinate the middle school/high school selection process with Grade 6 students, families, and staff.
  • Manage administrative and logistical considerations for grade 5-6 expansion, including curriculum materials, schedule, etc.
  • Additional tasks as determined by the school leader.
Data Systems Management and Data-Driven Instruction
  • Prepare school data dashboards and trackers-including school-level data and individual student profiles to provide teams with regular access to actionable, integrated data to inform school priorities and daily differentiated instruction.
  • In Year 1, train teacher leaders on effective data inquiry practices and model, lead, and co-facilitate data inquiry cycles. In Year 2, coach and support teacher leaders in facilitating data inquiry cycles at their grade levels.
  • With members of ILT, prepare agendas and materials/data for weekly CPT meetings.
  • Work with LT and ILT to co-plan yearly instructional priorities, and aligned scope and sequence of adult learning and coaching cycles.
Curriculum, Instruction, and Evaluation
  • Manage the expansion of Grade 5-6, including teacher training for curriculum implementation, coordinating upper-grades assessment plan (in alignment with BPS plan), and overseeing key administrative and logistical considerations (see below)
  • Collaborate with Winship Leadership Team to plan for ILT and PD, specifically preparing data, ensuring that data protocols are clear and aligned with school priorities, and developing structures for evaluating the effectiveness of ILT and PD.
  • Support individual teachers around data-driven planning and instruction, weaving insights from assessment data into planning for grade-level curricula, with particular focus on grades 4-6.
  • Observe and evaluate a small caseload of teachers
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required. Masters Degree in Education preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience working a public, urban school district.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical ability.
  • Proficiency of Google Suite and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Excellent organization skills in managing multiple projects, deadlines, and timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and negotiate comfortably with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands.
Terms and Conditions: Managerial, Tier D. 223 work days between July 1st and June 30th each year.
