$4,000 hiring bonus!

The first sign-on bonus will be issued January 2023 in the amount of
$2000. In order to qualify for the January 2023 sign-on bonus, employee
must have been employed by the District and reported for duty by Monday, January 2,
2023.
The second sign-on bonus will be issued June 2023 in the amount of
$2000. In order to qualify for the June 2023 sign-on bonus, employee must
have been employed by the District and reported for duty by Thursday, June 1, 2023.


Position Summary

The position of Elementary Health/Safety Assistant is done for the purpose/s of providing, under general supervision, a variety of health related services to elementary school students including dispensing medications, providing delegated health care tasks for students with chronic health problems, providing authorized first aid to students and providing for the safety and welfare of students during non classroom activities.

Essential Job Functions:

Provides health related services as directed:
  • Dispenses medications.
  • Provides authorized first aid to students
  • Provides delegated health care tasks for students with chronic health problems
  • Consults with higher level staff as needed when situations arise outside normal scope of responsibility

Assures health related services are provided according to instructions, district guidelines, and applicable laws

Composes reports and documents for administrators and other school staff regarding student health and safety issues

Provides for the safety and welfare of students during non-classroom activities.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience working with students
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees, students, and the general public using tact, courtesy, and good judgment
  • Use and understand English in both written and verbal form
  • Ability to work accurately and with good attention to detail
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and demonstrate competencies
  • Flexibility and patience to work with students with a variety of needs
  • Ability to use good judgment in identifying, handling, protecting, and disseminating confidential student information
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
  • Ability to successfully complete training for:

-Bloodborne Pathogens

-Medication Administration (ORS 339.867-870)

-Emergency Glucagon Providers (ORS 433.800-830)

-Treatment of Severe Allergic Reaction (ORS 433.800-830)
  • ORS 433.800-830 requires individuals trained to respond to severe allergic reactions and to administer emergency glucagons be at least 21 years of age
  • Bilingual/Bicultural Preferred


Essential Physical Requirements:

Moderate to high degree of physical stamina with frequent lifting of up to 10 lbs. and the need to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed in the physical assistance of students with special needs. Ability to move freely to various locations inside and outside the school. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending. Exposure to the noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions. May involve exposure to communicable diseases, abusive student contacts and other adverse conditions.

Education Required
High school diploma or equivalent education or job experience.

Licenses Certification, Bonding and/or Testing Required
  • Red Cross First Aid/CPR Card (or equivalent), Oregon Criminal background and Fingerprint clearance.


Schedule: Monday through Friday during school year, 6 hours/day.
