PURPOSE OF JOB: The HS/EHS Instructional Coach and Site Support Coordinator ensures that teachers have the resources and supports they need to deliver high quality early education instruction as required by the Head Start Program Performance Standards. This is accomplished through individual and group coaching, classroom observation, feedback and reflection, and professional learning communities. The Instructional Coach and Site Support Coordinator will also assist with building oversight and support in collaboration with the HS Early Learning Community School Site Supervisor and Head Start Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborates and plans with the HS Education Manager, implementing the defined coaching strategy to ensure fidelity to the approved curriculum and assessment. This includes conducting classroom observations, providing feedback and supporting teacher reflection. Ensures that classroom routines and activities are developmentally appropriate and align with Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Schedules and provides coaching sessions to assigned classrooms, identifying goals and action steps to achieve optimal outcomes for children. Provides small group coaching opportunities through the facilitation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Models high quality delivery of instruction as appropriate.
  • Assists teachers with the development of effective systems for data collection and data entry as required for the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) ongoing assessment, conducted three times per year. Provides feedback on the quality of the documentation, quantity of the documentation and ways to share the information with families.
  • Supports teachers with the completion of developmental screenings, interpretation of results, and ways to share the information with families. Assists teachers with referrals for children in need of mental health or disability interventions.
  • Collaborates with the education team in assessing teacher professional development needs based upon observations, review of outcomes, and teacher input. Supports professional development activities, to include the facilitation of training as appropriate.
  • Utilizes technology to record data and develop reports, as well as use video to record teaching practices and examples, as applicable.
  • Collaborates with the HS Education Manager, HS Early Learning Community School Supervisor and Head Start Director by providing descriptive and objective feedback on teacher's classroom instruction to support an accurate evaluative process.
  • Monitors the use and needs of supplies and resources, to include technology and small equipment. Assists with completing and tracking orders and maintains inventory documents.
  • Instructional Coach assigned to an early learning community school, collaborates with the HS Early Learning Community School Site Supervisor, developing a plan for building oversight and supports to ensure coverage for the extended day program and the management of staffing patterns each morning. Provides oversight of building operations during the absence of the site supervisor.
  • Instructional Coach assigned to the Early Head Start program will collaborate with the Head Start Director and Lead Family Advocate to ensure staffing needs are monitored and licensing regulations are followed.
  • Supports a positive building climate that aligns with the philosophy of Head Start, Trauma Smart and Conscious Discipline. Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students and families and maintains a visible presence within the building.
  • Participates in required trainings assigned by Head Start and KCPS Human Resources. A minimum of 15 hours is required annually. Participates in collaborative meetings with MARC and delegates.
  • Follows district guidelines for reporting incidents of suspected abuse, neglect or contagious disease.
  • Utilizes relevant district and Head Start software and technology effectively in the performance of duties. Completes paperwork according to assigned timelines and follows code of conduct and confidentiality policies.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Early Education or related field
    • Three (3) years' experience in early childhood education and/or infant and toddler care
    • Successful completion of required background check and submission of an initial physical and TB screening

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Knowledge of, or experience with, Head Start Program Performance Standards
    • Knowledge of CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System), ChildPlus, DESE approved curriculums, and the Project Approach
    • Knowledge of child care licensing regulations
