PURPOSE OF JOB: Responsible for supporting students and staff members with a special focus on culturally relevant academic enrichment and professional development under the direction of the Chief

Equity Officer in collaboration with the Curriculum & Instruction and Professional Learning offices. Additionally, oversees other staff in the Equity, Inclusion and Innovation Department who lead college access programming, postsecondary programming, and student diversity and inclusion programming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following:

  • Collaborate and build capacity with internal and external personnel to implement and/or

  • enhance services furthering equity and diversity efforts with specific responsibility for supporting professional learning and curriculum enhancements.

    Serve as a member of the Equity Steering Committee and contribute to the development of an Equity Plan for Kansas City Public Schools.
  • Plan, develop, and market equity and inclusion-focused education, Lunch and Learn programs, and events for faculty and staff.
  • Works collaboratively with District-level instructional leaders and stakeholders to support the use of culturally relevant pedagogy and practice.
  • Collaborates with District leaders to create, implement and monitor programs designed to ensure fair and equitable treatment of students, faculty and staff.
  • Assist the Chief Equity Officer with leading equity-focused training for principals, directors, BOE staff, and other employee groups in building capacity to conduct their work through an equity lens.
  • Support student leadership in matters related to equity and social justice through student contests, discussions, and by facilitating student attendance at conferences related to equity education.
  • Attend all necessary staff meetings and provide appropriate updates regarding on-going work, partnerships along with required attendance at staff and district events.
  • Collaborate with the Equity Data Analyst to ensure the creation of Equity Audits to be shared annually with schools and departments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master's Degree in Educational Administration or related field.
    • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience including Leadership experience in areas directly related to Pre-K-12 public education setting
    • Experience leading Equity-focused Professional Development
    • Experience interpreting and analyzing school data
    • Outstanding oral and written communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, community leaders, and parents
    • Strong leadership, communication, and human relation skills
    • Expert knowledge of culturally responsive practices

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Length of work year: 12 months (7.5 hours per day/5 days per week)
