Position Summary:

The Human Resources & Student Services Assistant is responsible for the following HR functions: Coordination of the hiring, intake, and onboarding of district employees, including postings, screening/interviewing, credential verification and maintenance, and contracts; monitoring and compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and reporting; implementation of Collective Bargaining Agreements, as well as support in negotiation; responsive to ever changing rules and regulations related to employee management.

Responsibilities/Key Functions:
  • Must adhere to confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in the application of Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Provide and assist in preparing job descriptions for all positions in the district.
  • Advertise all job openings according to the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Organize interview teams and is part of the interview process.
  • Prepares for and attends multiple career fairs throughout the state and out of state.
  • Coordinate substitute program: advertise, select, orient, process records (fingerprinting, evaluations, etc.)
  • Set up trainings online (SafeSchools) and in-person for substitutes and all employees.
  • Process certified and classified base contracts, supplemental contracts, and stipends.
  • Work collaboratively with Payroll to ensure databases are maintained accurately.
  • Maintain personnel records, employee evaluations, personnel transactions, selected employee information including transfers, changes of status, and prepares reports as requested.
  • Process and maintain L&I claims.
  • Complete HR Board Report for each Board of Directors meeting.
  • Coordinate and track Fundamental Course of Study paraeducator training.
  • Maintain and input staff clock hours and credits in Skyward.
  • Attend workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge.
  • Use independent judgement, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications : Qualifications:
*BA Degree in HR, Management, Business or related field OR four years of support experience in an HR department may substitute for the degree.
*Human resources experience in a public school setting preferred.
*Knowledge of:
o Laws and legal standards pertaining to employee relations and human resources management
o Current and emerging HR functions, processes, principles, and practices
o Digital publishing tools/design basics
*Must have demonstrated the ability to consistently:

o Act with integrity, honesty, and diplomacy
o Interact with people inside and outside the district with exemplary people skills, exhibiting a positive, approachable, and professional demeanor

o Develop and manage various office systems

o Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity related to personnel issues and hiring practices
o Utilize analytical, logical problem-solving skills
*Experience and proficiency in the use of computer applications and software.
*Ability to write to varied audiences, conveying often complex concepts with appropriate style and clarity.
