 POSITION SUMMARY
Plans, coordinates, manages, and directs the activities related to competitive grants in the Marana Unified School District.
 
The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of primary duties and responsibilities.  Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional position specific duties.
 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works closely with schools to manage and support existing and future competitive District grants
  • Creates and prepares grant tracking reports to ensure that financial targets are met and that delivery of grant programs meet all program compliance, financial criteria, and evaluations
  • Compiles and completes data collection, analysis, and reporting on individual school and program data to support the needs of grant funding sources
  • Monitors funding sources and amounts available, authorizes expenditures, prepares reports and invoices, and ensures compliance with grant guidelines
  • Creates, analyzes and evaluates grant budgets for correct calculation of expenditure categories such as salaries, percent of effort, salary adjustment increases, fringe benefits, indirect costs, materials, and equipment
  • Submits, monitors and receives on all requisitions for all managed grants
  • Creates and maintains all forms and procedures related to managed grants
  • Configure appropriate modules in the Student Information Systems(SIS) in accordance with grant guidelines
  • Run monthly attendance, budget, and purchase order reports for managed grants
  • Provide annual training for existing grant staff as well as onboarding training for new grant staff
  • Perform regular school site visits to all grant sites to monitor grant compliance
  • Hold regular meetings for grant staff for all managed grants
  • Collaborate with other district departments to coordinate grant priorities
  • Attend all mandatory grant trainings to ensure compliance
  • Keeps accurate and up-to-date files on all assigned grants
  • Develops a process to use district goals, priorities and program needs to secure grants for education programs
  • Researches, identifies, and tracks potential grant opportunities
  • Complete and submit all continuing grant applications for select grants
  • Disseminates information about grant opportunities to appropriate staff
  • Assists staff to develop and write proposals
  • Develops partnerships with community businesses and agencies to garner resources and support for new or existing grants
  • Works with outside grant writers to prepare grants, and arranges for timely review and submission
  • Develops boilerplate information using district demographics, programs, and accomplishments
  • Provides a monthly report of grant activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Researching, identifying, developing and tracking potential grant opportunities
  • Implementing grant goals and priorities
  • Tracking and reporting grant budgeting
  • Developing and administering budgets and monitoring expenditures
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instruction

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Experience working with administering grants or managing projects in a K-12 setting that includes budgeting, measuring/evaluating, and coordinating services and personnel
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training, or education

 Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must possess a vehicle driving record that allows insurability by MUSD insurance carrier.
