FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to provide safe and nurturing childcare for young children of parents attending the EL Family Literacy Program (TFLP).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide constant and responsible supervision of children whose parents are attending TFLP.
• Monitor parent sign-in and sign-out of children.
• Exhibit positive adult/child interaction.
• Ensure childcare environment is safe and secure.
• Utilize activities and materials to stimulate children.
• Maintain regular communication with parents, site personnel and district-personnel.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of childcare safety procedures.
• Knowledge of developmental stages of children.
• Ability to communicate and work with children.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to direct students in individual situations and group activities.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum: Must be 18 years of age with High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Desirable: High School Diploma/GED PLUS Childcare I and II credentials or 48 semester hours college credit with focus in early childhood development or education.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
• Infant CPR and First Aid Certification or successful completion within 60 days of employment.

Pay Grade - Hourly - Part-Time - $13 per hour

*Between 12-29 Hours per week*
