JOB DESCRIPTION

The job of Community Transition Assistant Liaison is established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for supporting vocational, social, leisure, and ADL experience opportunities for individuals with disabilities by assisting students with pre-employment and employment skills; providing information and/or direction to students; and promoting programs with staff and parents.

EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  1. Associate Degree, or 48 College Credits, or a passing score of 461 on the Para Pro Test.
  2. A Certificate of Completion of an approved Teacher Assistant Training Program, in addition to one of the above or a Bachelor's Degree that meets RIDE Standards
  3. Pass English Proficiency Test
  4. Ability to work with children and to be patient, understanding, and effective in meeting their needs.
  5. Command of English language (read/write/speak)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES
  1. College Level Training; preferably in education/vocational field
  2. Experience in applying and interpreting assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records
  3. Ability to read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  4. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safe practices in work sites and other activities; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; record keeping techniques; modern office practices and procedures; and pertinent federal/state labor laws and/or program requirements.
  5. Ability to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job related equipment.
  6. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operates equipment using standardized methods.
  7. Ability to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; and meeting deadlines and schedules.
  8. Required to work and support students with varying types of disabilities.
