Founded in 2004 and named for the first African-American woman to earn her Ph.D. in Mathematics, the award-winning E.L. Haynes Public Charter School serves nearly 1,200 students in grades Pre-K3 through 12th-grade. E.L. Haynes operates two campuses in the Petworth neighborhood of Northwest Washington, DC, and offers a rigorous educational program designed to prepare students to succeed in the college of their choice.

About Our Academic Program:

E.L. Haynes provides a rigorous and engaging college preparatory curriculum for students in grades Pre-K through 12. Our instructional program provides intensive learning experiences that deepen understanding at all grade levels so that every student is prepared to become kind and curious community members, lifelong learners, and leaders of social justice.

About The Position:

The Operations Coordinator is a critical position to the function of the school. The duties of this position are many and varied; they require an individual who can prioritize multiple tasks, work in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines. This 12-month, full-time role reports to the High School Operations Manager.

You Will:
  • Greet visitors, answer phones, respond to inquiries, and accurately process messages;
  • Maintain a high level of awareness around upcoming events, visitors, and general school information;
  • Prepare accurate written communications, including letters, newsletters, and notices;
  • Prepare required reports from raw data, which include generating charts and graphs;
  • Serve as the enrollment registrar and keep accurate records of student information in school databases and assist with the annual enrollment audit;
  • Interact with outside organizations regarding the release of student information;
  • Interact extensively with the E.L. Haynes staff and community;
  • Keep administrators informed of unusual events, possible withdrawals, and any other pertinent information;
  • Perform administrative tasks for the Principal, Senior Director of Operations, and other school leadership as required;
  • Attend and participate in school events;
  • Help maintain a supportive, learning environment for students and teachers;
  • Assist with building maintenance and emergency operations systems, including contacting outside companies, coordinating staff, and communicating with families;
  • Work closely with the Department of Health assigned nurse to ensure the safety of all students;
  • Maintain current certifications and licensures to administer medicine, first aid, and CPR; and
  • Perform additional duties that may be assigned.
You Have:
  • A belief that all children, from every background, must receive an excellent, college-preparatory education, and are able to reach high levels of academic achievement;
  • Demonstrated ability to build and keep strong relationships with diverse students and families;
  • Self-motivation, especially when juggling competing priorities;
  • The ability to think strategically, translate thoughts to action, and follow-through with all details;
  • Humility, a sense of humor, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Meticulous attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills;
  • Proven track record of being a strong team player; and
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination .
You Might Also Have:
  • A Bachelor's degree;
  • CPR and First Aid Certification, Medication Administration Certification, and Epi-Pen Administration;
  • Familiarity with DC charter school operations;
  • Experience with COVID-19 protocols and emergency management procedures; and
  • Experience working with students, families, and staff from racially, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
