The ideal candidate is an experienced dancer, dance teacher and choreographer. This position involves teaching multiple dance techniques and styles as well as choreographing several annual student productions. Required skills include a thorough knowledge of classical ballet, jazz, and contemporary technique as well as an effective pedagogy for musical theater dance programming for students ranging in grades 9-12.

Qualifications
- Practicing dancer with proven performance history
- Teaching experience with diverse audiences i.e, high school, studio, and /or community settings
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Collaborative and creative team player
- Collaborative work with community arts organizations
- Holds a BFA in Dance or proven professional experience equivalent.
- Knowledge of and experience in other genres and performance background a plus.

Essential Job Functions
1. Prepare and teach stimulating classes in theater dance to students aged 13-18 and prepare students for a professional career in musical theater
2. Create choreography for 2-3 annual student productions working as part of a production team alongside the director and musical director
3. Nurture each student to maximize their dance potential
4. Utilize differentiated instruction to assess and support all students according to their accommodations and learning styles
5. Ensuring a culture of rigor and discipline in the classroom
6. Practice a sensitive handling of students? emotional needs, giving constructive criticism, encouragement and confidence
7. Create a welcoming, healthy and safe learning environment for all students to grow and learn by setting class-based rules and boundaries that are centered on mutual respect and understanding of our core values
8. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
9. Regularly communicate with students, parents and other CAPA theater faculty to share artistic progress, encourage positive behavior, and resolve behavioral and artistic issues.
10. Maintain student attendance records
