Principal Functions

Direct an in-school after school program from the hours of 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday-Friday for 40 children

Duties and Responsibilities

a) Responsible for working with Principal and other staff to ensure the safety of the children enrolled in the program.

b) Must be able to lift 40lbs and stand on feet interacting with children during activities.

c) Supervise all child care personnel and volunteers. Report any misconduct of staff, volunteers, and/or parental concerns immediately to the Principal. Administer disciplinary action as needed with consultation from the Principal.

d) Conduct weekly staff meetings with principal to review plans, guidelines, and any challenges faced.

e) Delegate responsibilities to staff as needed.

f) Design program schedule of daily activities, monitor homework, snacks and make sure proper supervision is being supervised when children are using the bathroom.

g) Utilize Factsmgt.com. and remain informed about current child care issues and act as an advocate for the After-School Program.

h) Maintain current and accurate files on each child.

I) Handle all child disciplinary action in accordance with the Program. Complete all necessary forms, speak to parents, consult and inform Principal before action is taken.

j) Maintain attendance records and be aware of medical conditions of children such as asthma, Epi-Pens, etc.

    Job Requirements

    • The After-School Director (program administrator) shall be at least 21 years of age and a practicing Catholic and must meet one of the following sets of requirements:

      Have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, and Nursing. Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology or Child Care and have six months experience working with school age children; and have six months of administrative experience or have evidence of satisfactory completion of at least nine credits in management or administrative subject areas from an accredited institution of higher education.

      Work Experience
      • Have a minimum of six months (one year preferred) experience working with school age children.
      • Experience with Catholic Education Programs for school age children.

      Other Qualifications
      • Must be able to plan, prepare and implement the day to day activities for example arts and crafts, game day, life skills, computers and science, etc.
      • Must have a keen interest and sincere appreciation for children
      • Must be able to delegate duties as well as working side by side with staff.
      • Represent the Archdiocese of Boston spiritual ministry and social mission in the Child Care Program.
      • Current Certification in American Red Cross Standard First Aid, or its equivalent and CPR.
    • At least 1 yearof relevant experience preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
