Director of Professional Learning

The Director of Professional Learning manages the delivery of all professional learning activities within our highest tier partnerships across all content verticals and in some regions manages a team of Implementation Managers and Managers of School Partnerships. In addition, the Director of Professional Learning facilitates the highest-quality professional learning, is a seasoned Carnegie Learning product ambassador, promotes implementation fidelity, and increases the effectiveness of both the educators they serve and the PL team members they lead.

The Director of Professional Learning reports directly to the RVP of Professional Learning in their region and manages an assigned sub-set of the territory in that region. They work collaboratively with fellow team PL members and with teachers and leaders in schools, districts, and other institutions as assigned. The job requires 50%-70% travel, regionally.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
  1. Champions the overall mission and core values of the professional learning organization (and the company as a whole) and cultivates them across their team.
  2. Builds deep customer partnerships with teachers and leaders within our highest tier accounts and use those partnerships to ensure successful implementation of Carnegie Learning products and best practices.
  3. Supports/owns (or collaborates with the Customer Success team to support/own) top tier accounts in their territory (as identified by the RVP).
    1. Creates and manages a full-scale scope of work in partnership with the customer.
    2. Schedules and manages all professional learning days according to the scope of work and ensures thorough data collection and reporting.
    3. Facilitate status meetings with key stakeholders to promote data-driven accountability
  4. Strategically sets goals at the beginning of each PL partnership, collects data as they support teachers and leaders, and uses that data to track on the partnership goals throughout the implementation.
  5. Delivers engaging professional learning workshops; including, but not limited to, initial implementation workshops, leadership workshops, custom workshops, academies, virtual workshops, and occasional state/regional/national conference presentations.
  6. Delivers intentional job-embedded professional learning; including, but not limited to, formal coaching cycles, demonstration lesson cycles, co-teaching, lesson planning, PLC facilitation, leadership walkthroughs, etc.
  7. Demonstrates a proactive approach to identifying risks to implementation success and develops effective action plans for resolution, collaborating with others where appropriate.
  8. Actively forecasts current and future service deliverable goals (weekly) for their assigned accounts and theaccounts across their team members, when appropriate.
  9. Leads a team of up to 5 Implementation Managers and Managers of School Partnerships.
    1. Clearly articulates expectations to their team members and drives accountability
    2. Hires, leads, grows, and develops their team members
  10. Partners with Sales RVPs and Account Executives to ensure collaboration and communication across sales & services and to close business in high-profile opps in their region/territory.
  11. Develops and uses collaborative relationships within and across departments in order to influence product development, contribute to marketing and thought leadership efforts, etc. as a representation of our teachers and leaders.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.


WHAT SHOULD BE IN YOUR BACKPACK
  • Master's degree (preferred), Bachelor's degree (required) in education, specific to the content vertical with which they will support (preferred)
  • 5+ years of classroom teaching experience
  • 3+ years experience supporting Carnegie Learning implementations
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or managing others
  • Experience designing and delivering professional learning workshops
  • Understanding of school and district infrastructure including technology environments and management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment maintaining positive attitude in stressful situations
  • Solution-minded and detail-oriented; always looking for ways to improve efficiency, communication and the customer experience
  • Ability to follow through on assigned tasks and projects with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
